APEX - Adaptability, Performance, and EXcellence In their Industry or Profession
The McMinn County Economic Development Authority realizes that our existing industries and the employees that make up these companies are an important part of our local economy. Thus, it is important to us that we recognize companies and employees for their achievements. In 2014, we implemented the APEX awards to recognize companies and individuals for their Adaptability, Performance and EXcellence in their industry or profession at our annual Celebration of Industries Who Make It In McMinn banquet. There are five award categories are sponsored by different entities in the local community.
Environmental Steward of the Year – Sponsored by the Daily Post Athenian
The Environmental Steward of the Year Award recognizes outstanding achievements by industrial corporate citizens for successful environmental practices and conservation measures. Eligible initiatives could focus on a number of topics including, but not limited to, energy and water conservation, use of renewable resources, reductions in emissions, procurement/supply chain sustainability, packaging and recycling, waste prevention, alternative fuels, green building initiatives, etc.
Professional of the Year – Sponsored by Tennessee Wesleyan College
Recognizes a professional salaried employee in the industrial sector that has excelled in their field of work and in improving the quality of life in McMinn County and among their peers.
Production Employee of the Year – Sponsored by Tennessee College of Applied Technology
Recognizes an industrial production hourly employee that has excelled in their skill set and in improving the quality of life in McMinn County and among their peers.
Distinguished Service Award – Sponsored by the Chambers of Commerce of Athens and Etowah
Recognizes an industrial corporate citizen that has positively impacted the quality of life of the local community, their workforce, and their families.
Innovator of the Year Award – Sponsored by McMinn Co. Economic Development Authority
Recognizes effective use of technologies to create a competitive advantage in areas of market share, costs of production, improved quality and or customer convenience, and efficiency.
