CSX Appalachian Regional Port is located 45 miles south of McMinn County. This inland port is directly served through the Port of Savannah, and is currently under construction. The estimated opening of the inland port is 2018.
The Port of Tellico, a river and rail port located in neighboring Monroe County within 20 miles north of McMinn County along U.S. Highway 411. It is owned and operated by the Tellico Reservoir Development Agency (TRDA). This facility has two mooring cells and a Railroad spur for offloading. The port is part of the largest tributary of the Ohio River; the Tennessee is part of the nation’s Inland Waterway System. These interconnected river routes cover 11,000 miles and serve to strategically link geographic areas, major markets, suppliers of raw materials, processors, and consumers.
